The Australian Analytical Research Center (AARC)

ABOUT AARC

The Australian Analytical Research Centre (AARC), established in 2016 and situated in the vibrant region of South-East Sydney, represents a beacon of innovation and excellence within the pharmaceutical and analytical chemistry industry. Encompassing a two-level, concrete edifice that spans an impressive 1200 square meters, AARC is not merely a facility but a cornerstone of pioneering research and analytical expertise. At the helm of this esteemed institution is Dr. Tina Liu, a luminary with over four decades of invaluable experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing and research. Dr. Liu’s profound expertise in analytical chemistry and pharmaceutical formulation has been instrumental in steering AARC toward its esteemed status in the industry.

AARC distinguishes itself through its top-tier laboratory, equipped with an array of specialist instruments that underscore its commitment to precision, reliability, and groundbreaking research. The facility boasts an extensive suite of advanced analytical tools from renowned manufacturers, ensuring comprehensive capabilities in substance analysis and product development. Notable instruments include Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS/MS), and Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) from Shimadzu Japan, reflecting the centre’s dedication to employing state-of-the-art technology in its operations.

Moreover, AARC’s proficiency extends to sophisticated chromatography systems such as High-Performance Liquid Chromatography with Photodiode Array (HPLC-PDA), Ultraviolet (HPLC-UV), Refractive Index (HPLC-Rl), and Evaporative Light Scattering Detectors (HPLC-ELSD), along with Gas Chromatography with Flame lonization (GC-FlD) and Electron Capture Detectors (GC-ECD), UV, and Infrared (lR) Spectroscopy. This extensive arsenal of analytical instruments is complemented by specialized equipment for Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) from Camag, Switzerland, and Dissolution and Disintegration testing from Pharmatest, Germany, which further enhances the centre’s analytical capabilities.

A focal point of AARC’s expertise lies in its unparalleled ability in the isolation and separation of individual active compounds from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbs, this niche specialization is supported by an advanced Biotage lsolation and HPLC-Fraction collection system, alongside the centre’s proficiency in utilizing LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, TLC, UV, and IR spectroscopy for the identification, interpretation, and prediction of novel compounds arising from its research endeavours.

AARC’s contributions to the pharmaceutical industry are multifaceted, offering services that range from herbal identification through fingerprint analysis to the quantification of active ingredients in formulations via HPLC, GC, and Ms detection. The centre’s capabilities also extend to the research and development of new products, as well as providing stability-indicating testing assays. As a state-of-the-art laboratory, AARC is not only at the forefront of analytical research but also serves as a pivotal resource for the pharmaceutical industry, offering insights and services that are critical for the advancement of pharmaceutical sciences and the development of new, innovative therapies.
